Ahh, the taste of good cheese...
Wow! They just don't make movies like this anymore... in a garage that is. So if you take the production value saavy eye out of the equation, you'll realize these things are FUNNY! Some great gags in both flicks to be sure...
Two-buck chuckle
Comes pretty much as advertised. Star Warp'd is a claymation amalgam of Star Trek / Star Wars characters with assorted other sci-fi staple characters thrown in for chortles. Fans of the Robot Chicken style will approve, though it's got a less "mature" theme overall. For Hick Trek, think the usual humor (?) associated with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour ilk and you'll be fine.
Neither has a deep story. Both consist mostly of silly bits, definitely a few cringe moments included. Some sequences in Hick Trek are not suitable for younger children, while the central joke in Star Warp'd is fart humor; get by that tidbit and it's amusing enough. A couple of jokes in both are spot-on and are themselves worth the dollar or two spent. Also, the ending sequence of Hick Trek - with pacing and dialogue stolen from a particularly familiar movie - is done very well.
My expectations were not high, but I did like it, for what it's worth. Cheap laffs but worth a look - or two;...
Funny!
It's just what you would expect from the title. A little primitive but well executed. Fun and stupid all at once!
